This iconic autobiographical musical by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning composer of RENT, Jonathan Larson, is the story of his trials and triumphs, who on the verge of turning 30 is facing the harsh realities of pursuing his passion.

AVAILABLE ROLES
Unless specifically noted, all roles are open to all regardless of race or ethnicity.
Age ranges are not meant to eliminate any performer from consideration for a role, but merely to provide a general guideline for each character.
- JON – A musical theatre composer facing his age as his 30th birthday fast approaches. (Male, 25 – 35, range: A2-A4)
- MICHAEL – Jon’s roommate and best friend who previously was an actor and is now a marketing executive. (Male , 25 – 35, range: Bb2-Gb4 )
- SUSAN – Jon’s girlfriend and a professional dancer. (Female, 20 – 30, range: A3-D5)
- KARESSA – An actor in the reading of Jon’s latest musical. She performs Jon’s new song: Come to your Senses in the reading. Pretty, flirty and outgoing. (Female, 20 – 30 range: A3-D5 )
- FEMALE ENSEMBLE – Playing multiple roles throughout the musical. Must be able to sing and dance. (Female, 25 – 45)
- MALE ENSEMBLE – Playing multiple roles throughout the musical. Must be able to sing and dance. (Male, 25 – 45)
AUDITION BRIEF
Song
Please prepare two contrasting 1min pieces (one ballad, one up-tempo) in the style of the show.
- Please bring along sheet music for our accompanist. This should be clearly printed out and placed into a folder or securely taped.
- If you’d like to be considered for the role of JON and you play piano, please prepare a short piano piece (not a requirement for the role, but a perk).
Monologue
Please prepare a contemporary monologue, no more than 1min in length.
